The Book of Potions consists of seven chapters, each focussing on a particular potion. Each chapter introduces a potion and its effect(s): gather ingredients, brewing the potion, interact with a story related to the potion and finally use the potion to advance in the Wizarding Schools Potion Championship.
Gathering ingredients can be used in the Concoctions Mode, where the player can freely experiment and create custom potions by combining gathered ingredients.
